When the holidays roll around, you can trust that your kitchen appliances are working as hard as you. Although they are our kitchen’s superheroes, appliances still require a little TLC every once in a while to prevent a less than lustrous exterior, or, even worse: a smelly interior. Put your best home forward this year with these deep cleaning care tips, designed to make 2020 your kitchen’s freshest year yet.

Avoid A Grimy Disposal

Keep any disposal odors at bay in 2020 by making the black hole of your kitchen smell lemony fresh. Start with sharpening the blades of your disposal by pouring sea salt down the drain. Once fully dissolved, deodorize the zone with baking soda. Lastly, squeeze the juice of one lemon down the drain and allow it to set. Just like that, your garbage disposal is ready to take on a new year of kitchen challenges!

Wash Your Dishwasher

Keep your dishes clean and fresh by showing your dishwasher a little love. Sprinkle baking soda on each rack of your dishwasher to help break down lingering smells or stains. Utilize a wet paper towel or sponge to rub in the substance. To finish, run the dishwasher with a few tablespoons of vinegar—this will sanitize it to perfection!

Un-gunk Your Oven

Not sure what to do with the burnt food stuck on the bottom of your oven? We have a hack for that! Sprinkle baking soda on the offending area and allow it to sit for 10 minutes. Then, mix together a cup of white vinegar and the juice of one lemon. Pour the mixture over the baking powder and wipe clean with a paper towel. Your oven will look good as new!

Make Your Microwave Gleam

Your microwave will be clean and fresh in a matter of minutes—without scrubbing! Simply mix together one cup of tap water with two tablespoons of white vinegar and the juice of half a lemon. Pour the mixture in a microwave-safe bowl or cup and microwave it on high for four minutes. Once the cycle is complete, wipe down any excess moisture with a paper towel and enjoy your clean microwave!

Refresh Your Fridge

When it comes to removing stains and smudges from your fridge, ‘baking soda’ is the magic fix! Start by removing everything from your refrigerator, including all removable shelves and crispers. Fill your sink with warm water, mix in half a box of baking soda and a quarter cup of lemon juice. Scrub each shelf and crisper with a washcloth, then set aside to dry. Fill a spray bottle with two cups of warm water, one tablespoon of lemon juice, and two tablespoons of baking soda. Spray the mixture inside your fridge and wipe down with a washcloth. Once your shelves and crispers are dry, reassemble your freshly-cleaned fridge!
