When you hear the word “cleaning,” your mind probably goes straight to mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, laundry, and lots of elbow grease. To decrease the time spent on your everyday house chores, Catalina West wants to give you tips on keeping your apartment clean, so you don’t have to do these regular chores as often.

Make Your Bed Every Day

This is our number one tip to follow. Making your bed every day will keep your bedroom looking cleaner and mentally prepare you for a better approach to your day. If you are one of those people that thinks it’s a waste of time, try simplifying your bedding to make it easier on yourself.

Clean Out Your Fridge

Cleaning out your fridge is a simple task that many people don’t give enough attention to. All you need to do is take 20 minutes out of one day each month to check expirations and throw out food that is causing odor. We are all guilty of storing leftovers in the refrigerator, but let’s be real with ourselves and admit they don’t always get eaten. Set a day each week to clean your leftovers out to keep your fridge looking and smelling clean.

Get Rid of Excess

We’ve all heard the saying, “Less is more,” but have you ever applied this tip to your home? By getting rid of excessive amounts of clutter, the easier it will be to clean your apartment. The more clutter you have, the more likely your apartment is going to build up with dust. If you are one of those people who just can’t let go of things, you could store these items in your garage or storage unit.

Clean as You Go

This may sound like a no brainer, but it is often a task we avoid. For example, when you are cooking make it a priority to never go to bed with dirty dishes in the sink. By following through on this tip, you will feel much better waking up to a clean kitchen.

Have a Designated Area

Are you tired of misplacing your keys or phone? Don’t worry we have the perfect tip. Make a designated spot in your apartment using a stand, shelf, or any organizing box to place your phone, keys, wallet, mail, etc.

We understand that cleaning your apartment may not be a priority for you, but we can assure you that following these tips will save your stress and time. When in doubt, remember to follow our Golden Rule for tidiness, “Have a place for everything and keep everything in its place.”
